China seeks to speed free trade negotiations with South Korea

- Chinese state television CCTV has reported that President Xi Jinping said China will seek to speed bilateral free trade agreement negotiations with South Korea
- Xi told South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol that China will deepen cooperation with South Korea on areas including high-tech manufacturing, big data and the green economy
- Xi also stressed the importance of ensuring “safe, stable, and smooth global supply chains”
BEIJING, China: Chinese state television CCTV has reported that President Xi Jinping said China will seek to speed bilateral free trade agreement negotiations with South Korea.
The news agency added that Xi told South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol at the G20 Summit that China will deepen cooperation with South Korea on areas including high-tech manufacturing, big data and the green economy.
Xi also stressed the importance of ensuring “safe, stable, and smooth global supply chains” as well as opposing the “politicization of economic cooperation” and the “broadening of security,” CCTV reported.
South Korea is a leading source of high-tech products for China.
