Wiper failure causes Ford to recall 650,000 trucks

- The recall covers some F-150 pickups, and Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs from the 2020 and 2021 model years

DETROIT, Michigan: Due to windshield wipers that were reported to fail, Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 650,000 pickup trucks and SUVs throughout the United States.
The recall covers some F-150 pickups, and Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs from the 2020 and 2021 model years, as well as F-250, 350, 450 and 550 trucks from model years 2020 through 2022.
In documents posted this week by U.S. safety regulators, the company, whose F-Series pickups are the top-selling vehicles in America, said that teeth on the wipers are not the correct height, which can cause their arms to become stripped, potentially reducing visibility and increasing the risk of crashes.
Ford dealers will replace both front windshield wiper arms, and owners will be notified by letter starting on 23rd May.
According to Ford, as of 25th February, it had received 754 reports of malfunctioning wiper arms, adding that some of the recalled trucks were built with higher-torque wiper motors due to the global computer chip shortage.
