MAKE RAMEN GREAT AGAIN
On this day in history, August 25th, 1958, 67 years ago today, Momofuku Ando began to sell his new invention. His new invention is something many of you have probably eaten; Ramen Noodles.
After World War 2 Japan had a lot of food shortages. These food shortages led to people in Japan selling Ramen on the black market. Seeing these long lines for illegal ramen gave Momofuku an idea. His idea was to make noodles that can be “quickly prepared and eaten at home with only hot water.” After more than a year of work Mr. Ando was finally able to get the recipe right. On this day in history, August 25th, 1958, 67 years ago today Chicken Ramen hit the shelves. Originally ramen noodles weren’t cheap. Momofuku sold his tasty invention as a luxury item in the beginning. Ramen Noodles were six times more expensive than the normal ramen was in the stores. He soon began dropping the price. As he dropped the price his sales increased. Soon Momofuku began making new flavors besides chicken. He also came up with cup noodles. Today billions of servings of Momofuku Ando’s invention are eaten every day all around the world. How many of you have eaten Ramen Noodles? Ramen Noodles are a pretty well-known item today, but they first hit the market 67 years ago today.
