OCTOBER 6TH

THE COLD HARD TRUTH

On this day in history, October 6th, 1961, 64 years ago today, President John F. Kennedy urged  American citizens to build nuclear bomb shelters. This was not the first time that he had told  Americans to build these bomb shelters either. America at this time was in the midst of what  history refers to as the Cold War. During this time Americans were feeling very threatened by  the USSR, and it seemed as if a nuclear attack from the Soviet Union was imminent.

Thankfully the nuclear holocaust between America and the Soviet Union never came into  fruition. Hopefully it never does because it seems as if the Cold War’s tentacles are reaching  into our present day. The current president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has an appetite for  power, and he is waging war in Europe. He has threatened nuclear retaliation to anybody who  tries to stop him…..and we are trying to stop him!!!
