Dragon Bravo Fire expands to 94,228 acres as containment drops to 4% amid strong winds and dry conditions
Southwest Area Complex Incident Management Team 2 continues a full‑suppression strategy as the Dragon Bravo Fire advanced north amid extreme fire behavior. Updated infrared mapping set acreage at 94,228 with 4% containment. Crews focused on holding FR 610, improving indirect lines, and conducting firing operations to protect values at risk.
Ongoing & Planned Operations
Fire is advancing through dry fuels to the north. Crews are reducing hazard trees along Cape Royal Road and Point Imperial Road to access the Walhalla Plateau. Fuel reduction is underway on FR 213; work continues on FR 22 west of SR 67 to strengthen lines and protect values. Planned firing operations along the east side of SR 67 aim to bring fire to more favorable ground near developed areas such as the Kaibab Lodge gas station. Structure protection continues around Kaibab Lodge, the entrance station, Buffalo Ranch, and other assets.
Weather & Smoke
Forecast calls for stronger winds than Tuesday and critically low humidity. Dry, gusty conditions persist into the weekend. Smoke will remain visible, including from the South Rim of Grand Canyon; check air quality at outlooks.wildlandfiresmoke.net.
