While most Americans were more focused on family gatherings, turkey dinners, football and Black Friday shopping trips, Republicans in the Congress quietly unveiled a massive health policy initiative over the Thanksgiving break – what seems to be a legislative Christmas tree on health policy – that lawmakers hope to speed through the House and Senate before wrapping up work for the year.
Known as the “21st Century Cures Act,” the $6.3 billion plan is designed to spur new medical innovation and research by the federal government – but at almost 1,000 pages of legislative text – it’s also rapidly become a [More]

The state of Michigan is now in the win column for President-Elect Donald Trump, further cementing his victory over Hillary Clinton, even as Clinton’s popular vote lead has now grown to over 2 million votes nationally.
Numbers posted by the Secretary of State in Michigan show Trump ended up winning the Wolverine State by less than a quarter of one percent – 10,704 votes was the margin out of almost 4.8 million votes cast.
Trump’s lead shrank from just over 13,000 as each county in Michigan ran through a check of their election results – but the win now gives him 306 [More]

Thanksgiving is here. For some Americans, this is a holiday they love, featuring great times with family and friends. But for others, Turkey Day conjures up memories of awful relatives and times they might rather forget.
Here’s hoping that you enjoy Thanksgiving in the best way possible.
How about looking back at what I’m thankful for in 2016.
1. This is just the greatest place in the world. Traveling the country this year, I got to see all sorts of people, places and things. I can’t begin to count the number of times that I saw something and thought [More]

In a videotaped message released on the eve of Thanksgiving, President-Elect Donald Trump urged Americans to speak with “one voice and one heart,” and find ways to come together in the aftermath of a bitter election campaign in 2016.
“It’s my prayer, that on this Thanksgiving, we begin to heal our divisions and more forward as one country,” Trump said in a video released on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. Trump will spend Thanksgiving at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Two weeks after President-Elect Donald Trump claimed victory in the race for the White House, a report out on Tuesday said that Hillary Clinton’s campaign has been urged to challenge voting results in some areas of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
The reason? The experts say they’ve found that Clinton received fewer votes in counties in those three states that used electronic voting machines.
Yes, that echoes of a charge that the election might be “rigged.”
You can read the report for yourself – the key paragraph includes the admission that this group of experts has not found any proof of wrongdoing – [More]

After months of campaign rallies where he vowed to press for a new investigation of Hillary Clinton, President-Elect Donald Trump backed away from that promise during a Tuesday interview with the New York Times, as Mr. Trump indicated that he would rather not have his administration pursue a further probe of the Clinton Foundation as well as questions about Mrs. Clinton’s emails from her time as Secretary of State.
“I don’t want to hurt the Clintons,” Mr. Trump said in a meeting with New York Times reporters and editors.

President-Elect Donald Trump started off his Tuesday before Thanksgiving with a volley of tweets directed mainly at the New York Times, as a meeting between Trump and officials of that newspaper was canceled, one day after a reportedly contentious meeting between the next President and top executives of the major broadcast networks.
Mr. Trump also used Twitter on Monday night to complain that the press was wrongly looking in to his business interests, and how those might collide with his duties in the White House.
“Trump’s Foreign Business Deals May Test a Constitutional Limit,” read the front page headline today in the [More]

Almost two weeks after winning the race for the White House, President-Elect Donald Trump released a video in which he reinforced his legislative plans for a new administration, vowing again to create jobs and clear away bureaucratic barriers to job growth.
In the video, Trump ran down a familiar list of issues that he dealt with during the campaign, as he said his goal was to “make America great again – for everyone.”
Mr. Trump said he would release more updates in “coming days” about his plans.

It’s no big revelation that many Republican supporters of Donald Trump strongly believe the news media was biased against their candidate; many of them are still pointedly telling me exactly that. But since President-Elect Trump’s victory, a number of liberals have been speaking out, accusing the news media of not being tough enough on Trump.
“The systemic media failure of the Trump transition,” roared the headline on Sunday night from “Think Progress,” a more liberal news site that puts its own progressive spin on most political stories.

A top lawmaker in Congress demanded answers after a behind the scenes dispute over the head of the National Security Agency burst into full view this weekend, with news reports indicating President Obama was being urged to fire NSA chief Admiral Michael Rogers, just as Rogers was being considered by President-Elect Donald Trump for a major promotion to the job of Director of National Intelligence.
After Adm. Rogers met with President-Elect Trump on Thursday in New York, Rogers seemed to be the front runner for the DNI post, which is currently held by James Clapper, who announced on Thursday that he [More]
