The ground of the 2016 race for President seemed to shift a bit more on Wednesday, as new polls showed Donald Trump grabbing the overall lead in two key swing states, as the GOP nominee also made new gains nationally, raising fresh questions about the durability of Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the White House.
Trump celebrated the new polling data at the start of a rally in Canton, Ohio.
“We’re up sort of like – everywhere,” Trump said to cheers.
“I think we are going to have an unbelievable November 8,” Trump added, clearly relishing the moment during his Wednesday evening stop.

Two hearings in the Congress on Wednesday morning about the Obama health law showcased the continuing partisan divide on that issue, as Republicans railed against recent increases in health care premiums and the law in general, while Democrats maintained those reforms are working, and that rate hikes are less than originally anticipated.
“Some of your comments in your opening remarks defy reality,” Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), an Obama health law opponent told one supporter at a House hearing.
“I’m expecting Toto in the land of Oz,” added Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), as the GOP assailed those who see the health care glass [More]

Pressed into action by his daughter Ivanka, Donald Trump on Tuesday unveiled a new plan that would allow Americans to offset the cost of their childcare expenses with a new tax break, as Trump hailed the effort as a “pro-family, pro-child, pro-worker” proposal.
The Trump plan would aim to give women at least six weeks of paid maternity leave from their jobs, and also includes other incentives for women who care for their children at home.
“For many families in our country, childcare is now the single largest expense, even more than housing,” Trump said in a speech outside of Philadelphia.

Refusing to cooperate with Republicans pressing an election year investigation of Hillary Clinton’s email server from her time as Secretary of State, two employees of a Colorado tech company took the Fifth Amendment at a hearing on the matter Tuesday, as another former Clinton aide ignored a subpoena and did not show up at a politically charged House hearing.
“Who told you to delete the emails?” Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee asked Paul Combetta of Platte River Networks, about Clinton’s email server.

With less than two months until the November elections, there are obviously a lot of unsettled questions about what the voters will do in the race for President and in elections for the new Congress.
So, let’s see if we can make any sense of where we are eight weeks out from November 8.
1. This is not a lock for Hillary Clinton. I have been telling my co-workers and friends for months, don’t get caught up in the hype that Hillary Clinton is (in the words of horse racing handicapper Andrew Beyer) a “mortal lock.” Yes, the polls [More]

Ignoring questions about Hillary Clinton’s health, Donald Trump launched a stern attack on his main election opponent on Monday, accusing her of being a powerful elitist who could care less about average working Americans, as Trump tried to take advantage of a Clinton comment about Trump’s supporters.
“You cannot run for President if you have such contempt in your heart for the American voter,” Trump said, as he said Clinton “mocks and demeans” those who work hard.
“The disdain that Hillary Clinton expressed toward millions of decent Americans disqualifies her from public service,” Trump added.

Overshadowed by the Sunday medical troubles of Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump’s campaign on Monday sought to capitalize on Clinton’s comments at a fundraiser late last week that attacked many of Trump’s backers, labeling them a “basket of deplorables.”
Trump’s campaign says his new ad pushing back on Clinton will run in four key states, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
“These highly offensive and divisive comments reveal the contempt and disgust for everyday Americans that Hillary Clinton has,” said Jason Miller, a top aide in the Trump campaign.

Hours after Hillary Clinton suddenly left a 9-11 ceremony in New York on Sunday morning and seemed to be on the verge of physical collapse, the Clinton campaign told reporters that the candidate had been diagnosed with pneumonia last Friday, and had simply become dehydrated and “overheated.”
The medical troubles forced Clinton to scrap two days of campaign stops scheduled in California on Monday and Tuesday, but also raised new questions about why officials had been so secretive about her medical troubles – especially after last week, where critics had repeatedly zeroed in Clinton’s cough during several days of campaign [More]
